Im so sick of the overpriced western food in kuching. no quality control, and not affortable.

wanted to bring my family for a treat, but i dunno where should i bring. SEAFOOD AGAIN? NAH.

its been awhile now. so i decided to go to.

CARVERY, Pending, Kuching.

Western Food Buffet, yea.. the last time i came here was 10 years ago. or more than tat… when it first open and my uncle brought us there.

and last month. i tot of wanted to bring my mom and bro and Cynthia to eat. and my God mother wanna tag along too.

On a Tuesday evening. the only time where my younger bro is free.

Bread was the No.1 starter on the table. and no im not gonna eat tat as starter cos its very filling. especially when u dip it in ur soup.

My Starter Pack haha!. a little bit of everything hahaha!.

First Meat, yes this is a Meat BUFFET, RM45 per pax eat all u like.

Lamb Chop. very yummy yo!

then the chicken wing. just ok.

and Mussels, i had 2 cos Cynthia don’t like mussels.

Beef something ahhah forgotten hahah which comes 4th.

5th is my favorite, LAMB SHOULDER! and taste PERFECT! woozeh! really really nice. haven’t tasted lamb shoulder this good for a very long time yo!.

i was quite afraid of the knife, mana tau later phiu chiu. scary wei!

thin but long slice hahah…

9th was Turkey ham and chicken errr ahaha!.

my mom consumed too much meat. she needs vege .

10th Sirloin Steak, a very juicy one. slightly over cook. but still taste good.

11th, i lupa wad is it d ahah! its LAMB _ _ _ _ _ _ ….

sedap sekali lah! the waitress wasn’t in a good mood. so she said in a very low voice of wad was it and left. but this reddish meat taste great. not all things fully cook taste good. some u eat it half done or medium rare. taste better than fully cooked. do u agree?

my muka starting to pucat ahaha!. and slowing my eating pace d.

and then the 13th SMOKED CHICKEN! it been awhile since i tasted smoked chicken where u put the chicken in to ur mouth and u really love the smoky taste and the aroma of it.. so worth it!. even my bro loves it.

dunno who kenot eat give to me lo…

YUMMY! u hungry yet? no lah. finish dinner liaw ma.

14th that i had. Fish and Egg. and this one really suck ahhah!.

i missed a few cos i was so bloated d. and this is how bloated i am.

I QUIT!. IM DONE!. I HAD ENUF.

10 years ago the food was good. 10 years later the quality of the food is still as good. another 10 years i will find out then.

Happy Bak Chang Festival 2009

Every year my mom will make Bak Chang for us, relatives and friends. and some for my close friend(s) heheh.. if she allows. this post is about how she make it. wrapping up from Pandan Leaf with Glutinous Rice and Chopped to bits Pork meat with Mushrooms , HEHBEE (fried shrimp, i think) and the sweet sweet stuff i dunno how u call it ahhaha!.

Its the Nyonya Bak Chang.

here is the fried glutinous rice.

Pandan leaf curved it in to the angle needed. and hold it firmly. if u slip then u need to redo it. this thing need experience and skills. i asked her do u need help from my friends, she went mai mai mai.. chitkeng later mai mai mai. hahah!. do alone better. no need waste time, oh ok lo.. as u wish. but i kinda pity her lo.. sendiri buat. my aunt dun wanna help her. she rather help her neighbour. sobx.

then u put the rice in. look at how she holds it. then spread it to the side for space to put the LEMAK PORK MEAT WOOTZ!!!

and of cos the nut is the most important one!.

added more meat to cover it..

and more rice to cover the meat.

wrap it up and tie it with the specific type of string.

and leave it hanging till it reached 10 per bundle.

after that to put it at one side waiting to let it boil. boiling takes about 1 hour i think or more im not sure.. i know she uses a big barrel to boil. which can fit about 4-6 bundles. she uses 2 barrels so can save more time.

here are those cooked ones. oh my aunt helped to wrap some 70pcs and i went to collect them to bring home for boil… and my uncle ordered 100pcs to give away. so mom have to wrap another 30 for him then the rest are for own relatives and friends.

TADAH!!! tataTATADAH!!!! looks great isnt it. the aroma smells great. even my uncle can smell it from the garage outside hahahah! not this one la but those at the back which mom just took out from the barrel.

KUA TIOK TU SONG AH!.. ahhah! but i cant take much each time. i dun care wad ur record is. mine max is 2. and im bloated already for the rest of the afternoon till dinner even.

feel like getting a bite or not ah? want ler want ler haaahah! hungry mer.. not really la hor kekekek…

for my lovely friends from the gang. im sorry i cant send or give more. i wish i could. but wad if, if ur reading my blog. u can drop by my house. i will prepare some for u guys. and we makan together. and hang out at my house celebrating the Bak Chang Festival together. aint tat a great idea? yes? no?

its ur choice. thats all i can give. one each ok kua rite heheh…

Betong Town i went…

and so Me and Barry reached Betong Town first. cos we were asked to detour and head to town first. so we dun get to see the camp. but we get to see Betong town First Hand.

This is where we parked our car. where theres shade from the sun.

the phrase “ITS A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL” strikes when we get out of the car. the first we get is a HORN from another car. parked beside. ITS BARRY’s FRIEND! WTF! barry said sibeh soi tu tiok lu ah ahahahahha! i LMAO.

of all places BETONG is where he met hes friend. and he just reached there coming down from Sibu. wow. small world indeed.

below is BETONG’s Hotel. ngaiti so big wei. in such a small town. heard from them that alot of tourist stay there. eh not cheap oh. about 100 bucks per night wei.

this is the meaning of BETONG! ahhaha!. i think.

Barry took a photo for memory. places we went hahaha!.

let me show u around the Town. this place look so similar to SARIKEI! yes! the shops the parking the people there. just that the dialect they speak is HAKKA!. Sarikei ppl speak Cantonese that u wont even understand a word.

walking around, this i saw. CHAMPION SNOOKER CENTRE!. this is where champions are born, in them ahem small town.

i just randomly shoot. i dunno wad road is this and i dunno the name of the road or any junction. all i know and i must remember is where we parked our car.

and the ORANGE BUILDING IS EVERRISE.

there also got ahbeng car. ahbeng spok kahh.

meaning less la their road names! giezz! the corner lot next to the orange building is my mom’s relatives shop, WAH HUAT coffee shop is where we have our lunch.

Steam Chicken and Fried Chicked rice. not bad la ehhe.

Opposite the coffee shop is Barry’s friend’s shop, he wasnt there so they took photo with the uncle instead. and no its not he’s friend we met earlier. this is another friends place.

and i like the signboard. hand written using color chalk. nice oh.

before we left. a group photo with the relatives we dont see often. 3hours drive from kuching. Chun Tin and her son. standing infront of my brother.

My bro and Barry took a shot with the tree bark represent betong. and its a rubber tapping tree.

still walking around the town. got new shop houses wor. not bad. at least it looked like a town la hahha. rather than empty rite.

if Gordon were to come here. this is where he will hang out ahahah.

so at 1pm we left betong town to head back to kuching town. 3hours car ride. of course those in the Altis will be faster and those in the AE100 will be much slower. 80km/h -100km/h. quite slow but eh

on a long distance ride either to or back. i hate it when heres a huge lorry carrying Tree Barks infront.

the first thing that cross my mind. OVER TAKE LIAW WEI! FASTER!.

so thats Betong town. i showed u. oh if u happen to go Batang Ai by bus or field trip. Betong Town is where u will stop, like a pit stop for lunch or something. cos i recognize one of them shop lots. means i came here before last time.

i went on a field trip during my high school days. yea. long time ago. ehhe.

Road Trip to Betong

My younger brother Josh went to serve NS after he finished f5. end of last month there were few days of holiday for them. in order for him to come back he need to either use the bus or take the delivery van. OR. we pick him up. he managed to persuade my mom into picking him up at BETONG. the distance he told us SOUNDED SO NEAR. right after mount hosanna, which is bull shit. i dun wanna tell u yet. ok

Barry my cousin. mom and bro asked him to come along too. using hes car. but due to some Soiness. (bad luck) he air condition fucked. blown air. but hot air. which we dun have a clue till we are on the way there already.

lucky for mom. her younger sister and my godfather which is her husband drove their own Toyota Altis. yes a new car. and Darrel’s Father tag along with them.

so Big Shot my bro. so many ppl went up to betong to bring him down. WOW. never in my life. my own life. as early as 6am we left home. why that early. cos i dun wanna meet with those lorry on the way there too.

but OLD ppl like to take their time. their sweet time. cos they think its still early. they dunno the purpose or our purpose. to bring my brother and to head back to kch. point A to Point B.

7AM we reached Serian, break fast. my uncle told us that theres a coffee shop tat sells good Pau, chaseo pau, tausa bau, tuapau and etc. those BAU!

OH IS IT?

KWANG FOOK TOKO MINUMAN! where i have no clue. there and behind those shops and market ahhaha.

and here is the wad they said delicious pau. i ate chaseo pau. and it cost RM1.30 with egg, RM1.20 without egg. 10cents different.

an hour later. we reached Pekan LACHAU. some who doesn’t know how to read. its LANCHAU to them lo hahaah my mom and her siblings eyes are so sharp they saw DEER MEAT SELLING ALONG THE WALK WAY. i din see pun. me and barry din see pun. and time wasted there. cos they were thinking of buying it or not. and the surcumstances if they buy.

the shops looking like my moms kampung’s house front door. exactly the same. just the name and the things outside are different only.

this is the deer meat. they bought. not all of it. just 2kg tat cost them RM30.

before leaving Lachau, i saw a shop tat sells various kinds of parang. so mehni wei!

and we head back to the road again. to betong. my bro kept calling already. asking me will reach at what time. i said i dunno. i never been to betong.

about an hour plus later. we reached. Betong’s Petronas. and thats the petrol station where i always stopped at and to pee. haha!. if im driving. i din know it was Betong hahaha! never go and see the name ahahha or area.

when we stopped mom called and said that they have reached Bukit Saban Resort’s junction. and we are still at the station. we din expect them to reach tat fast.

and when me and barry reached, that junction.

mom called again. saying tat they have picked my bro up already. and me and Barry went WTF!. yes. our purpose is to get to the resort. but we only reached the junction. mom asked us to u-turn and head to betong town.

and for tat we damn cho bo lan lo. cos we dont get to see the entrance of it or even the resort opposite it. so we never know.

about 20km back down to the petrol station, near there is the junction to Betong town. wasted time. we felt like. why are we here. its pointless.

guess wad, from betong to Sarikei is 89KM left. about an hour and a half away only. we could have went there straight. since we do nothing ahhaha. but i cant i have to go back kch. wedding shoot the next day.

since we are already there. Betong town is where we went. to a relative’s coffee shop. which is next up ahhaha…

Pilgrimage Mt Singai Pt5.

this is the last post for Pilgrimage to Mount Singai.

oh during mass. i saw some butterflies flying around. by putting my hands out like tat. it landed on. so i start shooting lo…do u like the bokeh? ehhehe

walking around. so ticklish eh.

after mass. a group photo.. some ppl dun wanna listen. dunno wad is stand still and look straight… like to move around… stubborn ppl.. ahhaha.. some la..i wasnt in it cos i was shooting without a tripod.

then lunch. buffet style. dun look down on kampung food oh.. very delicious i tell u..

and down we go. from here i count my steps. every single step. not only me tho. ppl in front and behind me as well ahhaah…

one last view of the mountain before i dun see it for another few years … hopefully i can come everytime when my mom comes.. good exercise tho.

Moms 55th Bday.

today im gonna make u hungry, not only hungry, im gonna make u miss home so much u will call ur parents now ahahah!. those of u who are over seas or outstation for quite sometime. cos home cook and moms cooking are the best. Last Saturday afternoon mom called asked am i going home for dinner. i said yes definitely , and she said shes cooking tat nite.

so i went back at 5 something. the dining table at the living room is emtpty. eih… something is not right. if someone cleared the table outside means a family gathering. and i was right. but no one told me anything yet.

i head to the kitchen, saw mom and moms second sister was there cooking. it havent hit me yet. while looking around the kitchen i saw many things being prepared and so i asked.

wads with tonight? and mom say ” oh, its just steamboat” small gathering.

with who?, i asked… with some of her siblings

why suddenly one? , i asked again, she replied, for fun. hmmm…

and so i went up to my room and take my camera and snapping all the way.

Beef Curry. mom prepared this with the new Buffalo Cooker.

Fried Prawns. its so FRESH! makes me feel like wanna scream

BALIK KAMPUNG! when we were young, we used to balik kampung every weekend, every friday or saturday and comes home on Sunday evening. or sometimes spent the whole week there… SEAFOOD are fresh. and bats and squirrels , monitor lizards, deer and etc. yea those were the days!.

one of the reason mymom wanna do steamboat is to try this electric stove from Korea i think. i wonder how much it cost.

when u touch. its not hot. only the pot is hot. and tat is not my fingers. those are my brother’s. so macam girl also rite ahahahah!.bigger in size only ahhaha.

and the surprise birthday cake. for Mom. it surprised me too cos moms bday is like wad 1week plus away. and so many days to go. 7th Aunt bought the cake from my uncles Bakery, UNCLE CAT BAKERY Stutong.

Chendol , Sinchao , bought those and the coconut milk sqeeze from the kitchen ahhahaha… i dun eat cos got coconut milk i dun like…

i was so bloated tat nite. oh i stayed home the rest of the night. no plans for me, no one wanna bring me out nor ajak me, so i stayed home. i almost go lo yao by myself ahaha but was too lazy to move. so i watched badminton till late and sleep. the food was awesome! like no other.

CNY Post for Niece Tiffany at Canada.

Every third day of chinese new year. an open house at my cousin’s Ahkits place, and every year we visit them with excitement hehehe… its always my favorite house i dunno why ehehhe…

but this year, is different, my niece Tiffany wasn’t there, she’s at Canada studying, im not used to it ahahhaha!

a favor from her to take pics during a visit at her house and post about it, its a pleasure.

so this post is for you my niece. hehehe…

while have taking shots my 4th Aunt, ur Grandma asked me to go upstairs said “go up, Tiffany looking for u”

i was like, WAD? SHES BACK!? really? then they went ” no, webcam” , oh ok hahah! excitedly i ran up ahhaha!

so happy to see her, tho small in msn but happy to hear her since dunno when ahahha!…

so sweet smile rite, she can smile at my camera tho shes in canada…WOOTZ!!!

everyone was lining up just to have a chat with her. like queuing up in the bank. hahah. everyone miss her. and they also not used to it when shes not around celebrating with us here at home.

after few chats and helping them put on the headphone i was hungry ahahha… and i was assigned by her to take shots of the family and the ppl there.
